The service will be held rain or shine and parking will be available in the St.Philomena’s Church parking lot.
The program will begin with members of the Boy and Girl scouts serving as honor guards and leaders of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The invocation will be given by Rabbi Greg E. Lifcofsky of Temple Emanu El, and the benediction will be presented by Reverand Monsignor Thomas P. Nydegger of St.Philomena’s church. As always, we will hear the beautiful voices of the Livingston High School choral group under the amazing direction of Joshua Salzman.
Mayor Rudy Fernandez will extend a welcome and give a description of the garden and explain the meaning of its symbolic design. Township Manager Michelle Meade will recite a poem followed by reading of the names of the seven Livingston residents whose lives were taken on September 11.
Vietnam Veteran, Brian Boyle, will toll a bell as each name is read, while girl scouts place white roses on the monument in the center of the garden. This monument was made from a steel beam that was once part of the World Trade Center.
Guest speakers will share their thoughts following the Rose Ceremony.
The program concludes with the playing of taps by Tim Griffin and his daughter, Gabrielle.
The chorus asks that the attendees join in the singing of “God Bless America” as a final tribute.
