Delaware Valley’s Jesse Harrington (New Providence, Jr.), the top-ranked Division 3 wrestler at 157 pounds, earned a 7-3 decision over Cortland State’s Kevin Hackett in a dual meet at Cortland on Friday. Harrington, a Bound Brook High grad, is 18-3, with two pins, this season. Delaware Valley enjoyed a 27-12 victory over their hosts.

East Stroudsburg defeated Lycoming, 25-10, on Monday, with Shane Mallory (New Providence, Sr.) winning by a technical fall in his 184-pound match with Troy Hayre. The match was scored 26-11 for Mallory, who recorded 12 takedowns with no back points. The result yielded four bonus points for the Warriors.

Boston University’s Ryan Dowd (Livingston, Soph.) earned one of only two Terrier victories in a dual meet with Ithaca College on Sunday. Dowd, a St. Peter’s Prep grad, came through with a 7-5 decision over Jon Gregory at 125 pounds.

King’s College fell to Lycoming, 21-15, last week, although Frankie Davis (Madison, Sr.) was victorious in his 141-pound match. Davis, a Madison High product, decisioned Mike Maurer, 6-4.

MEN’S SQUASH

Bates was active last weekend, playing six matches over three days. Richard Keating (Short Hills, Fr.), playing at No. 6, started out with a 3-0 (11-1, 11-1, 11-2) victory over Columbia’s William McDavid in a match that Bates took, 9-0, on Friday. The Bobcats played three on Saturday, beginning with an 8-1 victory over Stanford that saw Keating prevail, 3-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-7) at the four spot over Ananth Sridhar. Keating, a Delbarton grad, manned the three spot in a 9-0 romp over MIT that saw him ease past John Kucharczyk, 3-0 (11-5, 11-2, 11-2). Denison also fell to the Bobcats, 9-0, on Saturday, with Keating winning, 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-5) at the four spot over Christopher Galluccio. Bates split two matches on Sunday, defeating Brown, 6-3, and losing to Dartmouth by the same score. Keating played the eight spot against Brown’s Alex Heitzmann and left the court a 3-0 (13-11, 11-3, 11-8) victor. Keating was extended past three sets for the first time all weekend by Dartmouth’s Ted Schroeder in a match at the eight spot, but he prevailed, 3-2 (11-9, 11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 11-9) to finish the weekend with six victories and no defeats.

Dartmouth’s Brian O’Toole (Short Hills, Soph.) also earned a victory in the Bates match, playing the five spot. He defeated Nicholas Echeverria, 3-0 (13-11, 11-7, 13-11). Later on Sunday, Dartmouth rolled past Bowdoin, 9-0, with O’Toole earning a 3-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-6) victory at No. 5 over Thai Ha-Ngoc.

Bowdoin cruised past four opponents by 9-0 scores last weekend, before stumbling against Dartmouth and Brown. David Funk (Short Hills, Sr.) defeated Denison’s Martin Prentice, 3-1 (3-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-4), at the second spot, while Peter Cipriano (Summit, Sr.) handled William Lawson, 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-5) at the fourth spot. On Saturday, Funk had his hands full with Stanford’s Vini Shetty, but finally prevailed, 3-2 (11-6, 11-5, 3-11, 8-11, 11-9), while Cipriano handled Sridhar, 3-1 (13-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8). Funk sat out the MIT romp, while Cipriano stepped up to No. 1, where he bossed Andrew Yoon, 3-0 (11-4, 11-2, 11-4). Brown eked past Bowdoin, 5-4, on Sunday. Funk fell to Adrian Leanza, 3-1 (6-11, 11-4, 11-8, 13-11), while Cipriano lost to Patrick Davis, 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 12-10). The Dartmouth match resulted in a loss for Funk to Nicholas Sisodia, 3-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-5).

Amherst’s Lee Banta (Westfield, Sr.) split a pair of matches at the eight position last Saturday. Banta, who prepped at Mercersburg Academy, defeated Wesleyan’s Kyle Baicker-McKee, 3-0, and lost to Williams’ Jeremy Herrmann, 3-0 (11-5, 11-7, 11-6). The Lord Jeffs defeated Wesleyan, 9-0, and lost to Williams by the same score.

After being shut out, 9-0, by Trinity (Conn.) on Friday, Tufts rebounded with three comfortable victories. The Jumbos’ Scott Leighton (Summit, Sr.) had no answer for Trinity’s Greg Crane, who left a 3-0 (11-6, 11-1, 11-6) winner in a match at No. 8. Leighton rebounded with a 3-0 (11-1, 11-5, 11-7) victory of his own over Wesleyan’s Kyle Becker-Mackee, as Tufts rolled to an 8-1 win. On Saturday, Leighton, a Summit High product, moved up to the seven spot, where he defeated Bard’s Andy Hoffman-Patalona, 3-0 (11-2, 11-3, 11-1), with Tufts prevailing, 9-0. The Jumbos also got past Stanford, 6-3, although Leighton needed five sets to take out Theodore Bowers, 3-2 (6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-13, 11-6).

Hamilton’s Hal Lee (Short Hills, Jr.) picked up a win in Saturday’s 9-0 rout of Vermont. Playing No. 4, Lee disposed of William Ryales, 3-0 (11-2, 11-2, 11-2). The tables turned for the Continentals, who then suffered 9-0 defeats to Western Ontario and St. Lawrence. Lee lost to Western Ontario’s Yeshale Chetty, 3-0 (11-1, 11-5, 11-9), and St. Lawrence’s Tyler Stout, 3-1 (9-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-3). Hamilton then lost, 7-2, to Middlebury on Monday, as Lee fell to Micah Wood, 3-2 (11-5, 6-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-9).

WOMEN’S SQUASH

Harvard hadn’t taken the court since early December, but there was little rust showing as the Crimson dispatched both Trinity (Conn.), 7-2, on Saturday, and Stanford, 8-1, on Sunday. Katherine O’Donnell (Madison, Sr.) won both her matches. The Kent Place grad handled Trinity’s JoAnn Jee, 3-0 (13-11, 11-2, 11-6) and Stanford’s Kyla Sherwood, 3-0 (14-12, 11-5, 11-6). O’Donnell played at No. 6 in both matches.

Franklin & Marshall’s Dana Russo (Livingston, Sr.) earned a victory at the seven spot in the Diplomat’s 9-0 thrashing of Haverford on Saturday. Russo, a Livingston High product, defeated Katherine Pryor, 3-0 (11-2, 11-6, 11-1).

Hamilton College’s Alyssa Bawden (Short Hills, Soph.) got a win at the third position in the Continentals’ 9-0 defeat of St. Lawrence on Saturday. The Millburn High alum took out Margaret North, 3-1 (11-4, 11-8, 6-11, 11-6). Hamilton then lost to Middlebury, 7-2, on Monday, with Bawden falling short against Kathryn Bostwick, 3-2 (7-11, 11-3, 9-11, 11-5, 11-7).

WOMEN’S SWIMMING

Emily Tato (Chatham, Soph.) swam anchor for Bates’ ‘A’ team as they won the 200-yard individual medley relay in a tri-meet with Tufts and Wheaton on Saturday. Tato, out of Chatham High, also contested two individual races, finishing fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (timed in 2:01.01 against a winning 2:00.00) and fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke (her 2:40.07 against the winner’s 2:30.05). Bates was outscored by both Tufts, 167-131, and Wheaton, 151-147.

MEN’S SWIMMING

Binghamton’s Jason Chen (Livingston, Jr.) was victorious in a pair of races at 200 yards as the Bearcats defeated Niagara, 161-130, at Niagara on Sunday. Chen, out of Livingston High, was first to touch the wall in the butterfly, which he finished in 1:58.04, and in the breaststroke, which he completed in 2:21.38.

Clemson’s Chris Dart (Chatham, Soph.) came out of the pool with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke in a dual meet with Duke at home on Saturday. He finished the race in 57.21. He also earned the Tigers points with second-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle, which he finished in 46.45, with the winner home in 46.21, and in the 500-yard freestyle, which he finished in 4:38.77 against a winning 4:36.01. Dart, a Chatham High grad, also swam the first leg for Clemson’s ‘A’ team in the 400-yard freestyle relay, which they won. Clemson outscored Duke, 182-116.

Grant Moryan (Westfield, Sr.) anchored two winning relay efforts for Connecticut College, which visited the University of Connecticut for a dual meet on Saturday. Moryan, who prepped at Oratory, swam the fourth and final leg for ConnColl’s ‘A’ teams in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. He also picked up second-place finishes in the freestyle at 50 yards (his 21.94 against a winning 21.77) and at 100 yards (his 48.05 against a winning 47.95). UConn won the meet, 169-113.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD

Montclair State’s Eugene Asimou (Livingston, Sr.) took second place in the men’s shot put at the Thomson Invite in Newark, Delaware on Saturday. Asimou unleashed a best throw of 53 feet, 1 inch, which was exceeded only by Salisbury’s Brandon Fugett, who put the shot 55-2¾. Asimou also took fourth place in the weight throw, with a best toss of 47-8. Fugett’s 55-5¾ bossed the field.

American’s Josh Einbinder (Westfield, Fr.) finished ninth of 18 runners in the 800 meters at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday. Einbinder, a Westfield High product, got the distance in 2:03.54, with the winner in at 1:55.85.

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD

Second-place finishes were the order of the day for Colgate’s local contestants in the Class of 1932 Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y. on Saturday. Kelly Cattano (New Providence, Soph.) was runner-up in the 3,000-meter run. The New Providence High grad’s time of 10:32.43 was about four seconds behind that of the winner. Lauren Abouf (Livingston, Sr.) beat all but one in the shot put. Her best throw traveled 11.83 meters, exceeded only by the victor’s 11.92. Abouf, a Livingston High product, also took fifth place in the 20-pound weight throw. Her best heave went 13.26 meters, while the winning throw landed 14.71 meters from the box. Colgate outscored the 15 other schools that showed up for the event.

Franklin & Marshall’s Bridget Grogan (Westfield, Fr.) took fourth place in the women’s mile at the Coach I Invite, held at Franklin & Marshall last Saturday. Grogan, a Westfield High alum, finished in 5:57.80, which was about 20 seconds behind the winner.

Hannah Westlake (Short Hills, Fr.) represented a triple threat for Franklin & Marshall. She was third in the 200-meter dash, which she completed in 29.45, against 27.78 for the winner. Westlake, a product of Millburn High, also contested two field events. She was fourth best in the long jump, with her longest lunge at 14 feet, 5¼ inches, and third in the high jump, with a best leap of 4 feet, 8 inches.

Last Saturday’s meet between Lafayette and Lehigh may have been a dual meet, but it’s never "only" a dual meet when those two rivals stare each other down. Jennifer St. Onge (New Providence, Fr.) earned points for Lafayette by finishing fourth at 1,000 meters (she ran it in 3:10.74 against a winning 3:06.37) and by running the third leg for the Leopards in the 4x800-meter relay, which they won by more than 10 seconds. The Lehigh women, however, got bragging rights with a 100-81 victory.
