By Chatham Day School 2/3/2010

|
Chatham Day School’s ongoing visiting artists series sponsored by TD Bank, is featuring the works of local artist John Brite, in "East Meets West". The exhibit runs through March with a reception open to the public on Tuesday, February 9th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on the Chatham Day School campus.
Mr. Brite moved to New Jersey from northern California, and "East Meets West" reflects his personal journey and is greatly influenced by 19th century French Impressionists. "My latest 2008 series of New Jersey landscapes and still life come from an endeavor to describe the world in unusual shadows and light, exposing the rich colors hidden beneath what is perceived at first glance," says Mr. Brite. "It is an exhilarating experience to create these paintings as they grow by themselves; I just work to reveal what is there to be seen." John Brite attended Ohio University and graduated from the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland where he studied painting, illustration and design. He has worked as an art director, illustrator, guitarist and singer, as well as a faux finisher and muralist.
Chatham Day School is an independent, coeducational day school enrolling students preschool through grade eight, and is located at 700 Shunpike Road in Chatham, New Jersey. For more information about the artist or the school, please call 973-410-0400, ext. 15.
