The combination of practices reinforces MarketCounsel and Hamburger Law Firm’s capabilities in company establishment and governance, intellectual property, commercial law, and securities transactions and regulation, while also expanding the firms’ reach into practices areas such as real estate, commercial litigation and trusts & estates.

Corey S. Kupfer, founder of Kupfer & Associates, is joining the firms as Partner at the Hamburger Law Firm, while also serving as Chief Strategist at MarketCounsel. Mr. Kupfer’s former firm, known by the tagline of "Strategists, Negotiators, Dealmakers", specialized in serving as the outside general counsel to growing businesses, real estate developers and investors, and service professionals including accountants, financial planners, consultants and coaches.

Mr. Kupfer received his Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law, where he was a member of the Annual Survey of American Law. Prior to founding Kupfer & Associates in 1991, he was at the New York office of Chicago-based Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather and Geraldso, working primarily on public offerings, private placements and leveraged buyout transactions, and labor and employment law matters. He later gained extensive experience in a broader range of corporate and real estate matters at the New York law firm Herrick, Feinstein.

The Kupfer practice will replace MarketCounsel and Hamburger Law Firm’s existing Corporate Practice Group as of January 1, 2010. Mr. Kupfer will be joined by Corporate Associate Sandra Honegan-Pounder, Of-Counsel Sharron E. Ash and Legal Assistant Natasha Caesar.

As part of the deal, MarketCounsel and the Hamburger Law Firm will add a New York office in the prestigious Empire State Building. This follows MarketCounsel’s opening of an office in Orange County, CA earlier this year. Both firms will continue to maintain their headquarters in Englewood, N.J.
