In planning how to celebrate her 10th birthday, Christina Gangi of Summit decided to ask her friends to make donations to New Eyes for the Needy rather than buy her a present. The end result? Christina collected $170.00 to support New Eyes’ program to buy new prescription glasses for poor children and adults in the United States. Three people will get the glasses they could not afford on their own thanks to Christina’s generosity.
In 2008-09, New Eyes purchased 5,167 pairs of eyeglasses for disadvantaged residents of the U.S. at a cost of $299,479.00. New Eyes welcomes individual donations in support of its U.S. eyeglass program. The organization also recycles used eyeglasses, jewelry, giftware, and hearing aids.
