Johns Hopkins placekicker Alex Lachman (Livingston, Jr.) set a school record for points at his position with 16 in yesterday’s 51-13 win over Franklin & Marshall in Baltimore. The previous school record for a placekicker was 15 points. His field goals came from 35, 38 and 28 yards out. Aiding the Hopkins cause at left tackle was Mike Stoffel (Livingston, Sr.); the line cleared the way for the Blue Jays to gain 287 yards on the ground, while allowing quarterback Hewitt Tomlin time to complete 12 of 17 pass attempts without getting sacked. Carrying much of the load on defense for Franklin & Marshall was James Freeman (Millburn, Jr.). The Millburn High alum had a hand in seven tackles (third highest on the team), two of which were solo numbers and one of which resulted in a loss of yardage for Hopkins. Both sides are now 7-2; Hopkins is 6-1 in Centennial Conference action, while the Diplomats are 5-2 in league play.

Joining Robinson on defense for Middlebury (4-3) were linebackers Steve Hardin (Summit, Sr.), a Delbarton grad, who was involved in six tackles, three of which were solo jobs, and Paul Carroll (New Providence, Jr.), a New Providence High product, who earned credit for two assisted tackles.
