Museum of Early Trades & Crafts Honors One of its Own, November 14th
By Museum of Early Trades & Crafts
11/5/2009

On Saturday, November 14th from 6 pm to 8 pm, the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts will host its annual wine tasting fundraiser, Wine & Song and will be honoring Museum Education Coordinator, Meg Wastie.

Over the past six years Museum Education Coordinator, Meg Wastie, has been responsible for bringing a fresh breath of air to the Museum’s education department. Using her 30 years experience as an English teacher at Columbia High School in Maplewood, Meg re-vamped, re-organized and re-designed the Museum’s existing school programs. She also created a number of new and innovative history-based programs that are both entertaining as well as educational, and has adapted many of them for audiences of all ages, including young children and senior citizens. In addition, Meg runs a number of the Museum’s popular public programs, including Family Fun Days, Kids’ Club, and Summer Camp for a Day.

Beyond working at the Museum, Meg also runs her own tutoring business, Clarion Review. Clarion Review is an SAT prep course for students in high school. Meg finds the time, when not putting in extra hours at the Museum, to offers students private and classroom courses. She also volunteers at Somerset Hills Adult Day Center and is an active member of the Seton Hall Choir. Meg continues to bring innovative, unique and creative ideas to the Museum, its programs and its visitors.

The Board of Trustees cannot begin to express their sincere gratitude for all the extra efforts Meg puts into everything she does for the Museum and they wish to honor her for that.

While attending Wine & Song, held at One Giralda Farms, in Madison, guests will celebrate the Museum’s ruby (40th ) anniversary. Event patrons will have the opportunity to sample a variety of savory wines from Gary’s Wine & Marketplace. Attendees will also be delighted with the variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres provided by Whole Foods. In addition, Odarka Stockert’s enchanting Celtic harp and flute duo, Glendalough’s Muse, will be performing their beautiful music throughout the evening. Guests will also have the chance to participate in a silent auction that will feature a variety of unique items geared to fit any budget and will include a signature ruby piece designed by Jon Elliot of Emerson Elliott - Goldsmith, Silversmith & Jewelers. In honor of the Museum’s 40th anniversary the Museum’s Board of Trustees will also acknowledge The Provident Bank, who is celebrating its 170th anniversary, for the long-time support of the Museum and its diverse programming and events.

All proceeds from Wine & Song will directly benefit the Museum’s educational programs and the preservation and maintenance of the Museum’s home, the James Library Building. Wine & Song is a great opportunity to support a local treasure right in your own backyard! Advance registration strongly recommended. Tickets are $65.00 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Call 973-377-2982 x14 for more information or visit www.metc.org

The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts is located at 9 Main Street in the heart of downtown Madison, just two blocks from the Madison train station. For information, please call 973-377-2982 x10 or visit our website at www.metc.org
