A multimedia group show by six New Jersey artists is currently taking place from now through August 15, 2009 at the Overlook Hospital Gallery, 99 Beauvoir Avenue in Summit, New Jersey. The exhibit, which features 90 artworks, is free and open to the public 24/7. Artwork is for sale and a portion of the proceeds goes to cancer research.
This multimedia exhibit includes oil paintings, pastels, gouache, watercolors, drawings, collages, and photography. It is the fourth time this group of New Jersey artists has come together to display their work. The artists are Michal Barkai from Livingston, Michael Fenton from Morris Plains, Charles Miller from Ringoes, Liron Sissman from Park Ridge, Doreen Valenza from Livingston, and Rosalia Tignini Verdun from Roselle Park. With numerous awards among them this show promises to be an exciting one.
About the artists:
Michal Barkai is an award winning painter and a photographer. She paints in oils and in dry pastels and is drawn to detailed representational landscapes, which she bases on her photographs and plein air paintings. Michal is a board member of MSHAC, Pastel Society of NJ, Livingston Arts Association, and the Arts Council of Livingston. She is also a member of Studio Montclair, the NJ society of En Plein Air Artists, and the Livingston Camera Club, and is an associate member of the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. To view Michal’s works please visit: www.MichalBarkai.com
Michael Fenton paints in oil, pastels, acrylics and traditional Korean watercolors. His award winning work has been exhibited in the NYC Metro Area and has attracted private collectors from around the world. Fenton infuses his canvasses with bold color, emotion and a sense of "story". Critic Lee Nichols wrote about Fenton’s work: "His choices of subject and the manner of rendering those choices reflect the inner spirit that most artists dream of having without the courage and dedication to achieve." Fenton’s works are viewable at: www.msfenton.com
Charles Miller is a photographer, digital artist, and abstractionist. Trained as a theatre set and lighting designer, Charles brings the theories of light and perspective used on stage to his work. His passion for gardening and flowers, his sense of humor, his interest in the unusual and his desire to find "pictures within pictures," all find their way into his artwork. To see works by Charles please visit www.photo.net/photos/harlequin
Liron Sissman’s oil paintings have been featured in shows in New York City and throughout the country, won multiple awards, and are collected by institutional collectors and by individuals in the US and abroad. Liron is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Art, and Who’s Who of American Women. Having no faces of their own, flowers in Liron’s work represent an image which viewers of diverse backgrounds would be able to relate to. Unencumbered by personal features, they serve as portraits of human nature. To view Liron’s works please visit: www.Liron.com
Doreen Valenza is both a painter and a collagist. Her works incorporate strong composition and delicate balance. Her inspiration comes from subjects as varied as the culture of the fertility goddess, ancient cave paintings, Meso America, Aborigines, and the American Indian. She is energized by great color combinations and is stimulated by the colors of the Southwest. Doreen is a member of The Arts Council of Livingston, The Livingston Art Association, Studio Montclair, MSHAC, and the National Association of Women Artists. To see Doreen’s works please visit: www.doreenvalenza.com
Rosalia Tignini Verdun is an Italian born award winning artist. Discovered in each of her works is her diverse, diligent, and romantic nature. To view Rosalia’s paintings please visit: www.RosaliArt.com
