The Union County Summer Arts Festival 2009 concert series moves to Oak Ridge Park in Clark on Wednesday evening, July 8, with a "contemporary country" performance by Mustang Sally. The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, led by Chairman Alexander Mirabella, invites the public to attend this free concert of rocking country music which begins at 7:30 p.m.
Mustang Sally is five talented young women who are based in Nashville, but their music has been drawing crowds from coast to coast. They are a popular act on the rodeo, fair and festival circuit and they have played high profile shows with Big and Rich, George Jones, LeAnn Rimes, Dierks Bentley, Josh Turner and many others. And they’re no strangers to these parts, having previously performed in Union County’s Summer Arts Festival series for several years.
The appeal of their music stems from their diverse backgrounds and influences and they’ve developed into a band that offers country music with a contemporary feel and traditional roots. Freeholder Chairman Mirabella urges you to "bring the entire family for an evening in Oak Ridge Park. Pack a picnic basket, bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, and enjoy the harmonies and energy of this popular country band."
The Union County information van will be at the concert site with knowledgeable staff to answer questions and offer information about interesting programs that are available to Union County residents.
The Summer Arts Festival concerts are held throughout July and August on Wednesdays beginning at 7:30 p.m. The location of this summer’s concerts will alternate each week between Echo Lake Park in Mountainside and Oak Ridge Park in Clark. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are encouraged. Refreshments and snacks will be available from vendors.

July 29 – Jobonanno & the Godsons of Soul (rock); at Echo Lake Park.
August 5 – Parrotbeach (Jimmy Buffett tribute); at Oak Ridge Park.
Extra feature: 5th Annual "Party in the Park" to benefit Runnells Specialized Hospital (purchase tickets in advance).
August 12 – The Ed Palermo Big Band with Rob Paparozzi (blues & jazz); at Echo Lake Park.
August 19 – The Nerds (Jersey Shore party band); at Oak Ridge Park, sponsored by the Union County Democratic Committee.
August 26 – The Sensational Soul Cruisers; at Echo Lake Park, sponsored by the Union County Education Association.
In case of rain, concerts will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at Cranford High School, on West End Place off Springfield Avenue in Cranford at 7:30 p.m.
