 Eighth grade students from The Academy of Our Lady of Peace School teamed up with Operation Bling to bring comfort and care to cancer patients at local hospitals.
Bill and Chris Ferdinand, owners of Ferdinand Jewelers in New Providence, recently launched "Operation Bling," a charitable organization which gives sparkling jewels to cancer patients during their hospital stays. Operation Bling provides local hospitals with an assortment of sterling silver and cubic zirconium jewelry, presented in a lovely case which includes a poem called "What Cancer Cannot Do." This heartfelt gift provides patients with a few moments of joy during an otherwise difficult time.
The eighth grade graduating class of The Academy of Our Lady of Peace wanted to conclude their last year together with a special act of charity and kindness. The students learned of the heartfelt efforts of the Ferdinands and decided to support Operation Bling. Each of the students personally contributed to a purchase of "Bling," supporting the 501(c)(3) charity and providing a lovely gift for someone special.
Eighth grade teacher Mrs. Maggi expressed pride in her students who are committed to charity work throughout the year and understand the importance of giving to those in need. As these students move on to high school and beyond, they take with them the lessons of charity and love. Well done!
