Concerned Neighborhood Association Creates YouTube Video to Draw Attention to Chai Center Hearings
By The Concerned Neighborhood Association
7/30/2010

Record summer heat or resident apathy has caused smaller than expected turnouts at the special Millburn Zoning Board hearings regarding the Chai Center.

The issue involves the Chai Center’s attempt to have four substantial variances approved s o they can tear down two homes and build a large 16,350 square foot structure on a vastly undersized piece of property. The property is located at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Old Short Hills Road in Short Hills which is a section of Millburn Township.

While the Chai Center promises the new structure would only be used for religious services, photos used in the video suggest otherwise. The Concerned Neighborhood Association (SaveMillburn) will demonstrate at hearings that approving the variances would create a substantial negative impact on the surrounding residential community.

The purpose of the YouTube video is to encourage more of the 15,000 adult residents to attend hearings regarding variances the Chai Center is requesting of the Zoning Board.

The public is not only invited but encouraged to attend the meetings and to speak at the appropriate times with their point of view.

Mike Becker, handling communications for The Concerned Neighborhood Association, states: "When the Millburn public makes its voice! heard, they can effect change. Recently, when the Millburn Township Committee was considering a Downtown Redevelopment Plan, it was only after many citizens got involved and made their voices heard that the plan was shelved."

Go to YouTube and put the words SaveMillburn (no space) into the search window to view this important video for all Millburn residents.

The Concerned Neighborhood Association of Millburn Township (SaveMillburn.com) implores officials on the Zoning Board of Adjustment not to make substantial zoning exceptions since the town has a full town wide approved Zoning Ordinance. Allowing substantial variances can hurt a great town’s plan.
