The Overlook Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees has appointed six local residents to serve three-year terms on the foundation board: Clelia Biamonti, Ph.D., Sarah Christensen, Timothy J. Erday, and Anne S. Babineau, Esq., of Summit; Roy Naturman, M.D., of Morristown; and Salvatore P. Caruana, of Westfield. The elections were held at the board’s annual meeting at Baltusrol Golf Club on June 8.
"We are delighted to welcome these new members to the foundation board," commented Chairman Gerald J. Glasser, Ph.D., of Westfield. "Collectively, they bring a wealth of talent and expertise to our fundraising efforts on behalf of Overlook Hospital."
Dr. Biamonti is a senior consultant with over 20 years experience as an analyst, researcher, and consultant to the healthcare industry. She currently serves as a project manager for the Tuberculosis Clinical Diagnostics Research Consortium (TB CDRC) at Boston Medical Center and Johns Hopkins University. Prior to her current position, Dr. Biamonti had an independent consulting practice that focused on strategic planning and identifying process improvement opportunities. Earlier, she was a senior consultant in the Integrated Healthcare Practice of Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, Dr. Biamonti earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from The Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine at UMDNJ/Rutgers University. She was awarded the prestigious NIH Training Grant in Biotechnology and the New Jersey State Commission on Cancer Research Grant. Dr. Biamonti is president of the board of trustees for New Eyes for the Needy, a non-profit organization in Short Hills. She is also a member of the board of trustees for the Discovery Orchestra at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
Mrs. Christensen was in the institutional equity sales industry for 24 years, most recently working at Broadpoint Securities and Banc of America. Earlier, she spent much of her career at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and, prior to business school, was an analyst at JP Morgan Asset Management.
Mrs. Christensen holds an MBA in finance from Wharton Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been active in Wharton Women, the Pingry School, and "Our House," a local charity that provides work/housing for the mentally disabled.
Mr. Erday is the managing director of Erday & Company, a wealth management firm headquartered in Summit. Prior to founding Erday & Company, he was a vice president of investments and a certified investment management consultant with UBS Wealth Management in New York City. Previously, Mr. Erday served on the executive committee of the Wealth Advisory Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization dedicated to continuous improvement of the professional standards in the financial services industry. He was a charter member of the Wachovia Securities Financial Network, LLC’s Advisory Group as well as a member of the Wachovia Securities Financial Network, LLC’s Licensee Advisory Board.
Mr. Erday is currently a member of the Investment Advisory Board of the Ithaca College School of Business, where he received his bachelor’s degree in finance. Recently, he was appointed a Director of "The Dreyfuss Initiative," a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching civic education in middle and secondary public schools.
Mrs. Babineau is an attorney with Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer where she heads the firm’s redevelopment law practice and also specializes in utility, telecommunications and energy law. She is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and a contributing author of Commercial Real Estate in New Jersey as well as other publications on redevelopment, telecommunications and energy law. She also serves on the board of other non-profit entities including NJ Future and the Summit Affordable Housing Corporation.
For the past six years, Mrs. Babineau has been chosen by her peers for inclusion on the New Jersey Super Lawyers and is included in Best Lawyers in America. She is admitted to the New Jersey and New York Bars as well to the Third Circuit Court of Appeal. Mrs. Babineau received her bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle and her law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
Dr. Naturman is an attending anesthesiologist at Overlook Hospital. He is a former president of Summit Anesthesia Associates, P.A. in Summit.
During his 21-year medical career at Overlook, he has served as president and vice president of the medical staff, chairman of the Department of Anesthesia, medical director of the John E. Reeves Same Day Surgery Center, and co-chairman of the Operating Room Committee. He has also chaired Overlook’s Performance Improvement Committee and Atlantic Health’s Medical Leadership Committee.
In addition to serving on the Overlook Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees, Dr. Naturman currently serves on the board of trustees of the Overlook Hospital Advisory Board. A former member of the Atlantic Health System Board of Trustees, he remains active on the board’s Financial Oversight and Strategic Planning Committees.
Dr. Naturman received his bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and his medical degree from Tufts University. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and his residency in internal medicine at Tufts-New England Medical Center. Mr. Caruana is the president and director of Foster Capital Corporation, an investment management company in New York City. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Lehman Brothers, where he was employed from 1976 to 1991. Earlier, he was with Merrill Lynch.
He has been a member of the Columbus Citizens Foundation since 1984, which provides college scholarship assistance for needy and deserving students.
Mr. Caruana has been a director of the Foundation of Binghamton University (1991 to 1997) and has endowed the Salvatore P. Caruana Scholarship Fund at Binghamton University to assist students with financial hardship. He is currently a volunteer advisor to the New York City Child Abuse Prevention Program.
In his hometown of Westfield, Mr. Caruana served two consecutive terms on the Westfield Town Council. He served a three-year term as a director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation, was director of the Westfield Symphony Orchestra and served on the board of directors of the Westfield United Fund. In 2002, Mr. Caruana founded and organized Westfield Cares, a program that provides assistance to September 11 families. In 2010, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Westfield Foundation, where he has endowed the Caruana Family Fund to assist the medical and special needs of local children from families in distress. Mr. Caruana received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
