Two Union County women’s professional organizations are partnering with Lord & Taylor to host a benefit fashion show, networking event, silent auction and dinner. The event "A Fashionable Gathering," is open to the public and will take place on March 24, 2010 from 5:30PM to 9:00PM at the Cavalier Regency, 2401 Wood Ave., in Roselle, NJ. www.dinecavalier.com. The benefit is a joint-event hosted by the Union County Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners’ (NJAWBO) and The Women Lawyers of Union County (WLUC). Tickets cost $50 and a package of 5 tickets can be purchased for $225. This event features a fashion show in partnership with Lord & Taylor, items for auction such as jewelry, home and office décor, spa and restaurant gift certificates, marketing and IT services gift certificates, gift baskets, and much more. In addition, vendors will display and sell their products and services that will be of particular interest and benefit to business owners including financial services, office products, and client gifts.
Annette St. John, President for the Union County Chapter of NJAWBO stated that, "Through the proceeds of this auction, we hope to provide the appropriate small appliances, furniture and accessories to offer a comfortable environment for women in need of safe harbor. Transitional housing is urgently needed in Union County and this program will provide the time and supportive services to help women gain the skills they need to become independent, self sufficient and lead violent-free lives."
Lavinia Lee Mears, President of WLUC added that, "WLUC’s scholarship fund helps to financially support women who want to enter the legal profession. Addressing this need is becoming increasingly important as funding is more difficult to secure."
